Howdens Quote

Options
We have got a quote from Howdens for their Burford Cream Gloss range for 17 units which includes a pull out larder unit for just under £6500 including VAT. This price does not include appliances or worktops. The price is their October sale price they say, but seems incredibly expensive to me.

We got another quote from an independent kitchen company that is supplying us with the kitchen units from JJO kitchens, worktops and all NEFF appliances for the exact design as Howdens and their price is £6000 including VAT. The doors that they are supplying are lacquered compared to the Howdens range which is laminate.

I don't understand how the Howdens quote is so steep. Can somebody help?

Also I couldn't find much detail about JJO kitchens. Appreciate any feedback on them

Thanks

  • Hi,

I would be quite keen to see responses regarding the quote as I am in a similar situation. Howdens quote is twice as much as another supplier .

What door have you chosen from jjo?
98% of their doors are also foil/vinyl or laminate
  • Hello,

Doors are Image Oyster range. They have also given us a quote for the Intergra Oyster range which is 400 pounds more. But that is still much lower than the Howdens quote.

    Thanks!!

    the oyster intergra is lacquer
not too sure on the slab door though.
i use to work for a company selling these doors and they were vinyl.
  • Hello Evokit,

What is your general opinion about JJO kitchens though? I can't seem to find reviews about them.

    Thanks

a lacquer door is painted all round with no joins on the return edges or back.
the foil/vinyl doors will have a join to the back.
This is why i will not supply foil or vinyl doors
The burford isnt the best in quality terms anyhow
  • Get a local kitchen fitter to price you the one from Howdens, he will be cheaper as he will have a trade account and get better rates than you.
  • Hi,

The price that Howdens has quoted is after applying the trade discount of our fitter. Which is why the amount seemed very high.
