Just started uni and been told I can claim for childcare Ive got the forms to fill in from student finance just wanted someone to clarify how this works ? need to apply asap
Im not sure which childcare provider to use yet need to look around do some research so I can only estimate the figures at this point but it does say on the forms I can fill them in with estimated figures then let them know the providers name/address at a later date is that right ?
Do they pay your childcare in one lump sum ? When do you let them know the actual figures ? I get my second instalment of student loan/grant in January will it be around that time ?
If there was an overpayment would student loans just take the overpayment out of my student loan in January ?

You get the childcare grant paid in 3 instalments like your grant and loan, they ask for estimates but at the end of each term you have to send them your actual costs, if you over estimated they will take it off your next instalment (which means if you spent the extra you won't have enough to pay for your next term. If you underestimate they will pay you the extra in your next instalment. They will only pay UP TO 85% depending on your circumstances and up to a maximum of £148.75 per week for 1 child and £255 a week for 2 or more children.0
