Has anyone tried to compare the 2?

Eden(dogs) looks cheaper than Orijen (senior) - Orijen is around £65 per 13.5 kg and Eden around £50.00 per 15kg with feeding recommendations about the same so Eden looks like a cheaper (Orijn for Zara (40kg GS)about 1.50 per day, Eden about 1.00 per day) option but..

How do the 2 compare with ingredients? I am rubbish at comparing those, has anyone tried?

For both dogs and cats?

This is quite interesting:

  • I would say have a pop onto the dry food index on another forum we're both members of ;) (p71 def has comments but it's mentioned several times throughout the thread)

Eden does get really good write ups BUT apparently their customer service is appalling

I have seen that thread Rising - and another one too where people say their dogs did not take well to Eden and complain their posts on Eden's group on FC are being deleted so....

Perhaps I better stick with Orijen, brand I know and all my extra stomach's at home have no problem with :)
  • Probably!

Have you looked at Millies Wolfheart for Zara?

It gets really good reviews and is a bit cheaper at just under £49 for 14.5kg

Thanks - money is not an issue (at the moment, sigh...) - was just wondering about the "new" food v well established brand ;)

Going to stick to Orijen, just changed to "senior".

Not sure how will the cats react to Orijen though, will see LOL

I have both my dog and 4 cats on Eden ( Maine coons and savannahs) and they are all thriving on it. If you feed the same amounts as Orijen they will get runny bums - they need less Eden. I was warned they may be runny for a wee while till they adjusted to the higher protein content but it only lasted a few days with mine. I can't recommend it highly enough.:)
I have never had issue with their CS, but I know they have a FB page where they respond immediately to any queries. I also see on the FB page...far from deleting any negative comments or comments from people with issues ( like runny poos etc) they take the time to try to help work through their issues.

I can only go on my experiences with them and Orijen. I gave my cats Orijen recently ( got some at a discount so was too good to pass up:rotfl: ) but their fur is getting 'greasy' on it so they are going back onto Eden when it runs out :). My cats prefer the dog food to the cat food though ( contrary brats). All my animals get a mix of dry and raw and I did notice a massive difference in their coats after changing them to Eden. It's a shame the cat food doesn't come in bigger bags as it's expensive compared to the dog food.
Sorry if is is TMI ( but some people like to use toilet habits to judge diet):rotfl:

Less smell in the cats litter trays on Eden and poo is well formed and easy to remove. Sometimes very soft and stinky on Orijen:(. Doggy goes once a day and again....well formed and easy to clear ( except when he started first and I was over feeding him and he was loose ).
Both the cats and doggy love Eden and they deliver to the wilds of Scotland ( massive bonus! :T) and don't charge extra.
:rotfl:If it weren't for stress I'd have no energy at all. First rule of acting: Whatever happens, look as if it were intended.;)
Don't follow in my footsteps, I walk into walls:smileyhea When in doubt .............mumble.
I may look busy, but I'm just confused.:T I smile because i have no idea what's going on.:rotfl:

    Thanks.

The runny poos worry me - with 6 cats.. no way I want that. And a lot of people report that.

Change of food to higher protein one could cause that but only IF the previous food was low protein.

I may try one bag (for the cats, leaving Zara on Orijen) and see how it goes. Thanks.

With cats for me it is between Orijen and taste of the Wild and Eden really.
  • Runny poos from Eden only affected the poor doggy:rotfl: the moogs were fine on it ( they suggest giving a bone as well for the dog if it happens). I think in my case it was because I was giving him too much as the amounts look tiny in comparison to what I was used to giving him!.

My only issue with Eden aside from the expense of the cat version, is I'm used to leaving the dry down for the cats to graze and my savvys got fat doing that so you have to be strict with portion sizes! ( it looks teeny but they do thrive!:rotfl: ). I try to mitigate the expense by mixing down the cat with the dog food to make it go further.
I was sceptical when I started them on it as I thought it was expensive but I'm definitely a convert after seeing the cats trying to break into the sack when the postie delivered it :T. Their fur is really glossy, their teeth are spotless and bright and thy are full of beans. Their trays are totally hassle free ( combo of oko gold and Eden  ). The split of Eden and raw seems to be doing them the power of good.:A

I've just moved over to Millies Wolfheart and I think its fantastic, Logan is loving it and I can already see a difference in his condition.

I was considering that or Eden but chose Millies as was a FB member of both before making my decision and didn't like the attitude Eden took with people who had problems feeding it. Have found the people on the Millies page to be much more friendly and approachable.

My pup loved eden however had super runny poops. We worked out though that he has an intollerance to chicken so nothing to do with the Eden food really!
