just got this by googling it

    profit, as a percentage of the cost = profit/cost multiply.gif 100

    so 54p/18p x 100 = 300 %

Well if google and DiM say so it must be true

Good evening everybody I hope you have all had a good day.
Thanks chrisv for the new thread. I hope it brings lots of bargains.

Just landed on this post near the start of the thread, on coming back from checking the APG site.

It has indeed brought us lots of bargains so far...let's hope it keeps it up!:T:T

As for the womble (first of three), sadly Savvy predictor was correct again - nil return.

Ooo... the Ambrosia Dream is now 44p in T, so it's been off the M list for a short time and now... onto Avs T!:D Womble beat me to it before I caught up on msm:T. I've noticed a lot of items going down in price in T and therefore now Avs T, including some of the Starburst packs that were 70p in Sains last week. Sains back up to full price now, and T down to 70p, so off Avs S and onto Avs T on those!:rotfl::rotfl:

Those Normous Noodle pots stuffed me again...the item they should be [Strike]buying in T[/Strike] waiting for Morries, or T, to put back down to 50p and then buying Avs M/T as applicable.

Lowest difference was actually Avs W. But only two items compared to there - the Devon Dream at more expensive and the milk at about 29p more expensive.:rotfl:

9 items (5 different) on your bill qualify for comparisonASDALogoWhite.gif Tesco

    CheaperSignBlue.gif+£2.95
    1 x ASDA British Whole Milk 4 Pints (2.27L)£1.00£1.39
2 x ASDA Bakery Double Chocolate Cookies (5)£1.60£2.00
    1 x Toblerone Bars (4x35g)£1.50N/A
    1 x Nestle Smarties Cake Bars (5)£1.00N/A
    1 x McVitie's Tasties Choc Chip Cookies (150g)£0.50N/A
    2 x Branston Baked Beans (3:rotfl:x410g)£2.00N/A
    1 x Walkers Classic Variety Crisps (20x25g)£2.50N/A
    1 x Ambrosia Devon Dream (260ml)£0.50£0.44
4 x Golden Wonder Normous Noodle Pot - Inferno Chilli ...£2.00£3.92
1 x ASDA Chosen by You Cream Eclairs (4)£1.00£1.30
    1 x Balconi Mix Milk (10x35g)£1.00N/A
    Comparison total (compared products only)£6.10£9.05

Should be buying the four pack Branston Beans, vs Morries!:rotfl::):) Cheaper per bean tin - although one extra bean tin for about 13p more. Certainly makes more sense as they needed more than 3 of them.

Ok, profit as a percentage of cost price is as you say 300%

Whereas profit margin is profit as a percentage of selling price i.e. 75%

I suppose it depends how you want to look at it :)
    nicely summed up.

    Doh:o I meant 300%, but it seems I was wrong anyway.:o:o:o
Interesting how BBC Bitesize calculates it, though
    Percentage Profit = (profit/cost price) x 100%
