First Direct

Hi guys,

Can anyone please guide me to get the £125 incentive for account opening.

As far as I can see, there is no requirement to transfer 2 DD/ SO's or easy switch service? All I have to do is to just pay in £1000/m to get the incentive. Please can you confirm if thats the case with first direct or am I missing something?

Thanks

Yes, you are missing something. It's right on the front page for the account, hard to miss. https://www2.firstdirect.com/1/2/banking/current-account?WT.ac=FSDT_HM_ba1744nojs
Open a 1st Account, then transfer your banking and salary/income of at least £1,000 per month to your 1st Account using the Current Account Switch Service within three months of your account opening and we'll add £125 to your account.
Please note: As part of the Current Account Switch Service your old current account will close on the day that you choose to switch.
  • Thanks Archi.

But I cant see whether I have to transfer 2 DD's/SO's as a requirement with Account Switching procedure to get the incentive?
  • Neither can I.

If you are uncertain, call them - - their telephone folks are said to provide outstanding service.

Please update the rest of us when you do find out? I'm in the process of setting up some DD's for the account but I won't bother if I don't need to!
  • I just spoke with the customer service and they confirmed I need to have 2 DD or SO's to get the incentive.

I also just spoke to them, and I was told that the change has come with the new 7 day switching service. She was unsure whether or not DD/SO's were needed anymore, and advised me to try contacting the account opening team..
  • I think its easier for me to set up 2 SO's and make the switch to avoid the hassle.

That's probably true. I forgot that SO's can be set up almost instantly.
  • If you have a couple of SOs/DDs on your existing account and it's automatically closed on transfer, you have no choice but to move them to the new account, or they'll stop being paid. If you don't have a couple, you're unusual. :)
