Eligilbility for student loan after default

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of claiming a student loan after a previous default.
The situation is that as an 18 year old my husband took out a student loan and then dropped out of university  the loan went out many years later to a collection agency and is being paid back now,but he is now looking at going back to university next year at the age of 31.The student loan will have been paid off in full by then, but is he likely to be able to get another loan as obviously his ability to go back to university is based upon getting another loan.

As far as I'm aware, it would be the fact that he had a previous loan rather than the default that would cause the problem. I believe you can only access uni funding for a first degree.
However, if it was a while ago and he dropped out, then it may be different. I guess it depends how long he was there for too.
I would ring your local student finance department and ask - round here they are usually more helpful than the student finance company, but you could try their helpline too - number's on their website (or used to be).

No problems then - as long as he only did 1 year he'll be elligable for everything (or at least thats what I was told the other year)0
