Sky OnDemand wireless connector sound issues

Hi all,

Just received a wireless connector from Sky and connected it o our Sky HD box. Connects well to our broadband wirelessly and sound and picture is fed straight through the Sky box into the TV (no external audio speakers connected) via HDMI.

Problem is when watching any programme on-demand the sound is a second behind the picture. Has anyone else experienced this? I know you can delay the sound via the Sky box settings but this seems to make no difference. Going to try rebooting the box later in case that will work, but I'm not hopeful.

Any advice to correct the sound lag appreciated

  • Any kind of audio sync issue like this is often down to the quality of the datastream, the trick is to find out where its going wrong, most obvious cause would be the quality of the signal from the access point to your router.

Depending on what you hava available there are different things you can try:

    - Move the router - closer the better but just moving on few feet ca n make a difference.

    - Move (or temporarily switch off) any cordless telephones, certainly dont have any base stations near your router or access point.

    - If you can, run an ethernet cable from your router straight to the back of your Sky box (if it works ok with that then you can at least confirm it is a wireless signal issue).

    - On catch up tv instead of streaming a programme allow it to record, once downloaded does it still go out of sync? If not then that again points to a poor wifi signal.

The delay in the Sky settings is for when you are outputting audio via the optical out to a surround system as they often go slightly out of sync due to the audio and video being processed and outputted by 2 different devices which have no way of synchronising themselves.

    Good luck with it :-)

Thanks for the advice. It's sorted now. If I wait for the programme to download first the sound is fine when watching it from the start. Should've thought of that first really :o

    Thanks again
