Nightmare bullying from the jobcenter

You must be living in a different world from me then.
All the figures are here. http://dpac.uk.net/2013/06/jsa-benefit-sanctions-sky-rocket-under-coalition/
:rotfl::rotfl: That is a really unbiased site!
Maybe there are more sanctions under the coalition because the rules are applied more stringently so that people DO actually have to look for work and also have the correct attitude in the JC?(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Why would legality be an issue? Surely any organisation can lay down the rules of what is and isn't permitted on their own premises.
It's an issue because the the OP was told it was illegal and suggested to her it could be a police matter.
As you say, any organisation can lay down their own rules. Lots of nightclubs have a dress code: must wear a tie and mustn't wear jeans are typical examples. Entering their premises dressed in jeans and minus a tie would transgress their rules but not any laws.0 -

Wow, very christian attitude.
Have you been on JSA recently? It's soul destroying.0 -

I do not believe that they sanction you unless you have given them a reason to do so.
Re the children, what so you suggest we do with our children?? Leave a young child on their own?? as that is the only alternative for a lot of single mothers (we can't afford paid childcare on JSA and not everyone has family available to help). I had to go into the JC every week over the August holidays (sometimes twice a week on a signing week) what option did I have. I had to take my son with me. I did ask if the weekly appointments could be re-scheduled till September when he was back at school but they were unable to do that, so what would you have done? leave a six year old home alone?
In all other areas yes I do treat it as I would a job interview, I don't go in a suit as I would a job interview but do dress smart casual (never go scruffy). But I have to take my son otherwise it would cost me money that I can't afford.0 -
I had no choice other than to take my child, my oldest had already taken the day before off college to watch her but if he kept doing it I could have been fined under new regs for teens having to be in education till they are 17.
The jobcenter is a nightmare with no help offered as other posters have said the advisers are happy to admit they are not there to help you find work. In the end the new policies will force enough people off jsa by bullying, sanctions and such that they will be able to shut the jobcenters. Ironic really that the staff attacking the unemployed are the next ones in line.
Still I spent yesterday going through only finding three jobs that were real and I had a chance of getting. So fingers crossed even a christmas job would do.mortgage free by christmas 2014 owed £5,000, jan 2014 £4,170, £4,060, feb £3,818 march £3,399 30% of the way there woohoo
If you don't think you can go on look back and see how far you've come0 -

I suppose if you have absolutely NO-ONE who can look after your children for a couple of hours while you are at the Jobcentre, you'd have to take them. But what would you do with them if you got a job interview? You couldn't take them then.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I wouldn't have had anyone to look after mine, I would have had to pay a stranger :-(
This is why loan parents should not be forced to work until children are much olderBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -

I have never been on JSA, but my son has.
I do know people who think it is unreasonable to have to turn up in time and correctly attired. Maybe that is why the JC apply such stringent rules.
Anyway, surely if you keep to the rules, surely you will not get sanctioned? So what if the JC search site is useless? Search it anyway if that is what they want you to do. You can still search elsewhere as well.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
