Switching account after marriage

Hi all,
Just after a little advice really. My wife and I are newly married. The situation is I have recently switched my current account to First Direct. My wife wishes to also, however she banks with Cahoot
and her account is still in her maiden name.
The switch cannot proceed if the names on the 2 accounts are different. This seems reasonable. However Cahoot will not accept a marriage cert as proof of name, they want a passport, which we have not yet updated.
My question is - would it be acceptable to open her new FD account in her maiden name. Then switch from Cahoot and change her name with FD after that point?
It seems to make more sense with fewer to-ing and fro-ing. Any advice would be very welcome.
Thanks

Yes that will work ok.
I too have recently married. My wife already had her account with FD they did not even require the marriage certificate in order to change the name on her account.0
