Bit of a strange question but Here goes, sometimes when I connect my Sony pen drive to my PC, the wireless mouse and keyboard lock up. I have to reboot to get it working. Does anybody have any ideas why this happens?

the power for usb devices come from the motherboard, it may be too much in one go
get a mains powered standalone USB hub
this sort of thing

USB ports work in pairs, each pair has 500mA available.
If your mouse uses 100mA and pen drive uses 500mA ten neither of them will work.
You can use device manager to find out what each device uses by double clicking on each of the usb root hubs and the power tab it will tell you what is plugged in to each port and how much drain it is on the system. you then need to identify whihc port is which and use the ports in away to not breach 500mA.0
