Sat/Sun 21st/22nd Sep - What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing This Weekend?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. .
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Good afternoon, Penny-Saving Warriors,
Cracking on quite well.......tent drying out well on lawn, mr f having developed 'a system'......
Today's small money-saving things:
*Washed cat's bedding overnight on Economy 7.
*Shopping came in at 8p under budget. Yay!! (AND that included some booze to take next weekend when we go to stay with family)
*Yellow-stickered red wine vinegar spotted, so rounded up latest load of windfall apples to make brown sauce, which is just bubbling on the stove at the moment.
*All coppers & 5ps rounded up & posted into Change Jar - 57p!
*Tiny plastic containers re-filled with value raisins for snacks/packed lunches......works out much cheaper per kilo than buying those little ready-filled cardboard boxes.
*Day 1 of our 'Sorting out Holiday Excesses' week of Rosemary Conley......1,200 calories a day. Only a week, but no treats allowed in this stage of diet, so have defo saved on buying low fat crisps & bars, plus Portion Pots will be used with a vengeance.
*Home-made soup from the freezer for lunch with the rolls baked yesterday, plus grapes from our greenhouse.
*Dinner as per meal plans......home-made pasta bake made & frozen a week or so ago when I needed to use up ham & veggies from fridge.
*Pick salad - hopefully the radishes will still be edible. Have lettuce, spicy leaves, cukes, tomatoes & spring onions still going strong.
*Try pear from tree to see if ripe enough to eat yet....suspect they are still a bit hard.
*Thaw out home-made chicken stock to make tomorrow's gravy.
*Carry on knitting Christmas present.
*Found warm cardigan & extra blanket for bed......heating is sooooooo not going on yet. Got to get to at least October. The big energy companies are apparently making noises about another 8% of price rises. Thought this government was going to stand up to them.....pathetic!!
*Read 'Guardian' online instead of buying one.
Not MSE things:
*Forgot to switch heated airer on overnight so have had to put it on, all but for one hour 1st thing, on full-price tariff.
*Had a strop with my tights, resulting in them ripping beyond repair!! (My fault.....daft as this sounds, when I bought them in Jan, I forgot I'd lost weight & bought extra-large......I didn't realise my mistake till I was walking around permanently having to hitch them up :-)........got 6 pairs of the wretched things......going to try tying a knot in the waist & only wearing them at home!!)
That's me for today......got to stir the cauldron now, it's getting ready for blitzing.
Cheers all,

new to all this but plan is/was pretty good.
* sleep... i have slept most of the day as i am on nightshift tonight. (no real money involved, although i did go to new york in my dream. it was lovely. i hope to go in real life someday).
* nightshift tonight... plan is to remove than £20 in my purse (our last £20, borrowed from my dad) so that i only have a couple of quid in there. that way i have no chinese or pizza and we keep our pennies for food (which is why my dad gave it to me).
* stay in pyjamas until i leave for work... if i stay in pyjamas, i won't go outside to the shops. my partner will think i am lazy though.
* nsd... read up more on no spend days (which are easy just now as we have no money apart from dad's £20 which he gave me yesterday) and commit to a target in october. (when it will be much more difficult as we will have money).
* make a shopping list... going to plan what we need with our £20 and then just buy that. hopefully for less than £20 so i can put it in a jar. (oh yes, i have read lots of advice and am using it all).Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91
Savings: £0/£64000 -

Hello! Hope you don't mind me joining in?!
Just reading through your posts with things to do today has made me do a few more DFW bits and pieces too!
So far today I have:- Done a meal plan for next week
- Organised the kitchen cupboards to be able to see what I need, what I can use and what was lurking out-of-date at the back!
- Done the washing for the week
- Checked my bank and cc statements to check that everything is as it should be
- Ordered 2 xmas gifts from amazon for a fiver each, usually spend £15ish each on these people, so a £20 saving!
- Listed 3 large items and a few smaller bundles of items on ebay of things that I just don't use - hope to make about £200 - straight onto the credit cards!
- Done baking with the kids - used up nearly out of date chocolate with unwanted cornflakes
- Still not needing to put the heating on - put on fuzzy pair of socks
- Reading MSE for inspiration and motivational purposes!
- Plan on making a use-things-up meal tonight
- Evening in front of the tv, bottle of wine needs using up too...
