Anyone put an lcd tv on the wall

Options
Hi, need a bit of advice, i want to put my 26 inch lcd tv on the wall, brackett coming tomorow, plasterer coming to skim bedroom early next week.
Am i right in thinking i need to add another plug sockett behind the tv so wires are hidden, or do i chase out 2 inch wide opening and put the tv leads and scart sockett into one opening then plaster over?

You'll need a lot of cables and leads going into the TV, I'd imagine - one or two SCARTs, power, aerial maybe, depending on your set-up. You could have a channel / chase in the wall which is then plastered over, but that means changing the cables is a bit tricky. Alternatively you can get some plastic to attach to the wall and contain the cables - doesn't look too bad. Or you can do what I did if you're lucky and run the cables up the wall of the room behind the TV and drill straight through the wall!

I have a 32" Panasonic wall mounted. I got an aditional socket and TV point behind it. My Sky box in the lounge, has a feed going back into the TV outlet, so that I can watch digital or sky on this TV.

I guess this is your only TV and the scart is to your DVD / video recorder?

Be very careful to mount the TV on a stud, it is far too heavy to mount using plasterboard fixings.

Was in a local hotel the other day, and it had several largeish flat screen tv's mounted in the ceiling, or rather, hanging from the ceiling. Eureka, why didn't I think of that. I've got a big plasma on the wall, but only covered the cables with a bit of plastic dome shaped channeling. Just as well, because we had to change the set, and the cables on the new one were completely differently placed. Would now like a flat screen for the bedroom, but not much room, plasterboard walls, etc, so the ceiling idea could be just the job. Has anyone done it, seen suitable brackets???? Quite taken with the idea, if its practical.

There are companies who make mounting brackets for every type of AV installation try googling LCD installation, my links are not working tonight.

We put my DD's 15" LCD on the wall, DH used trunking to avoid cables up the wall and he just painted it the same colour as the wall, it looks great.
