Hi,

As a total non gamer, I know nothing about this topic. However, given the chance I know I would like to play.

Was GTA 1 2 3 & 4 released for PC?

What platforms were 1 2 3 & 4 & 5 released on?

If GTA1 was released on PS1.... would that game now work on a PS3?

Would a PS4 play a PS3 game?

Which is best Xbox or PS and are they both better than a PC

These machines Xbox & PS play on a Television, do they connect with HDMI ?

Yes -You can find them all on the official site http://www.rockstargames.com/grandtheftauto/

Other than all being released on PC they have been released on varying formats since the series started back in the late '90s.

The original GTA was released for the PS1 (along with the London 1969 expansion disc), whether it will run on a PS3 will depend on the backwards compatibility of the PS3 which, to be blunt, isn't that great. If you really want to play it then you could pick up a PSOne for around a fiver.

    Would a PS4 play a PS3 game?

    Natively? apparently not.

Personally I detest the XBOX but I suppose it's down to preference. The PC can offer superior components so technically will always be ahead of the game. That said the PC can't offer complete hardware dedication for gaming in the way a console can.

There is a HDMI version of the XBOX but the Playstation will depend on which one. If you're worried about connectivity all the PS models can be connected via SCART or composite but not all offer HD picture standards.

    Really?

I can get a PS1 console for £5 - 10 and some games aswell for a few quids more? That's cheap, I might have a go then.

    Thx for your replies.

GTA 5 has not been released on PC nor has it been officially confirmed for the platform although the rumours are that it does exist and will be released in a few months.

There are no issues with backwards compatibility on PS3 consoles to play PS1 games, all versions of the PS3 have support for playing PS1 games as it is achieved through software emulation. It is the PS2 backwards compatibility which varies as it used dedicated hardware although only the very first 60GB PS3's released in this country had any support for PS2 titles, it was stripped from the 40GB 'Fat' model and hasn't been present in any of the models since then.

Yes, sorry, GTA V hasn't been released for PC yet (although no doubt it will just in time for Christmas)

Indeed and as you're aware of software emulation you'll know that brings its own set of problems with it.
There is compatibility list here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_3_backward_compatible_PlayStation_2_and_PlayStation_games and to be fair it seems the GTA PS1 games are OK with just a couple of glitches with the PS2 series.

I'm pretty sure the Rockstar website offers at least GTA1 as a free download these days for PC. That would be a great place to start as it's still a really playable game.
You can get GTA3 and Vice City on Androind/iOS for about £3 now!

if you have a PC and dont mind waiting to play the game.
i would wait until christmas, for the steam christmas sale, where you will most likly pick up the entire GTA collection for next to nothing.

i remember it costing me about £15 for all of them in a previous sale a few years ago.
i wouldn't be surprised if you would get the whole lot for £5-10 now in the sales

the PC versions are generally superior, especially graphics wise (althou usually more buggy)
