Thank you so much! Such a big help! I'm out of rice anyway, and the washing powder sounds good :)

Look at the Sainsbury's big bargain thread before you buy anything - if you find the rice at the same / cheaper price per kilo it may save you buying more than you can easily store.

I'll second the rice. I think they do a 6 pack of rice for just over £4. Supermarkets are usually 1 pack for £1 or more. There's potential savings on named brand washing up powder and softener aswell. Powder is usually £10-12 for a large 100 wash box.

If it's the veetee microwave rice 6 packs that's one of the offers as well £3.46

    Microwave ? Rice ?
  • I buy their 700g tubs of houmous with greek virgin olive oil which costs under £3 and is delicious. Their big round of brie is great value at under £7. Fresh spinach is also good value along with red lentils and schweppes tonic at less than £1 per bottle.

The big tub of own brand washing powder (its super concentrated). Its around £16 and lasts me 2 years. Fabric softener is good too. I love the meat as its such good quality for the price too.

If you're talking about the Kirkland brand of washing powder then I found it very fine and dispensing it from the big tub into a smaller container created a cloud of fine powder that made me cough, ditto pouring it into the powder drawer on the washing machine. If you are susceptible then beware.

Other than that we love Costco and there are plenty of MSE threads detailing the bargains. Agree with other poster that the quality of the fresh meat is outstanding. Our standard Costco shopping list includes:

    Chicken breasts
    Salmon
    Beef mince
    Lamb joints
    soft drinks
    wine
    beer
    coffee
    t-bags
    pasta
    tinned tomatoes
    tinned tuna
    mars bars
    trebor mints
    Finish dishwasher tabs
    tissues
    bubble bath
    shampoo
    conditioner

I love the Christmas goodies they do, a great place for finding unusual gifts & hampers etc

If you buy the rice in the tubs you get 100 servings for £3.99 exactly the same is more than double at Makro
