How many Rosemary Roof Tiles on one side of a roof?

Used the roof area calculator on-line and it is 50 square meters. Just doing the front elevation roof - creating a large dormer at the rear.

No hips or valleys - just a normal pitch with gables. Only complexity is one chimney and 2 large velux's that are 1.2 square meters each.

Any roofers on that can help and advise roughly how many Rosemary tiles with the average gauge would that need to cover?

Thanks experts.

PS: The tiles on the roof are about 30 odd years old and many of them are fragile and delaminating - so I won't be able to recover enough from the year to use in the front. frown.gif

Manufacturs generally have a technical pdf on their website for each range. It will tell you everything you need to know. Angles, gauges and numbers per metre.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Website says 60 tiles/square metre, I would allow an extra 5%-10% for wastage.

On a side note 30 years is very poor for a clay plain tile, they should be lasting 3 times that long, Redland used to offer a 60 year guarantee on all their tiles.

That's why they call them "biscuit tiles". They snap like that when brand new, it isn't anything to worry about.

They have a very good 2nd hand value so that should tell you something.
I'd also say go 2nd hand for a matching weathered finish, new always stands out, well, for at least 10 years.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • I suppose going for good 2nd hand will be a lot cheaper.

Some good advice on this thread.

    Thanks to all.

Well, it will be cheaper, but as I indicated they do hold value and are always bought up quickly, so don't expect them at giveaway prices;);)
