What's in you winter car kit?

I keep jump leads, a waterproof coat, spare high viz, torch, mobile phone charger which works via 12V socket in the car all year around.
This year I need a new set of tyres within the next month, so I think I'll get winter tyres, as I've seen how good they are when a Polish guy a work who uses them had to give me a lift a couple of years ago when it snowed.0 -
I always carry a full size shovel in my car in winter, my colleagues used to laugh until they needed it to dig us out.
Must sort kit out soon though most of above and bottle water for drinking too. always have a couple magazines in the car as well to pass the time if stuck anywhere, I also always carry packet of salt - salt as useful when clearing snow then put down for while before driving or walking - do that every year outside house on road and makes a big differenceI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
Full tank of fuel in case you are stranded and need the engine running for heat.0

...but this year I'm also going to have a little button on the dashboard that turns the four wheel drive on.
Does it have a magic button that turns your tyres into winter tyres?
Thought not....
I'll be sure to wave when your stuck in the nearest ditch

Think there's a pair of gloves in the car. Fortunately though i only do a 3.5 mile each way trip so it's highly unlikely I'll be getting stranded anywhere.
Struggling to find a 'cheap' 4x4 though for my winter car.0 -
I don't need a winter car kit ... I drive a Land Rover. *smug*
2018 totals:

I used to have one too.
It was useless!
The first queue of sideways cars and stuck trucks that I came up behind was the problem.
The damned thing just couldn't manage to jump over them at all. LOL
and don't say 'take to the fields'

Until LandRovers are trained to fly I'll be carrying several winter-kit items.
Seriously though - many 4X4 drivers forget or fail to image a situation where it may not be their inadequacies that bring their journey to a halt.0 -
Can you get recovery tracks in the UK?
They're all you need to get unstuck.
Other than that, just a coat, some basic provisions (chocolate, biscuits, water) and a torch.0 -

3.5 miles is a long way to walk, in the dark, in the snow.
Even if its not your own car thats broken down or got stuck, often what stops you getting home is the sheer volume of traffic thats affected when bad weather hits. Only takes one accident or one person not to get up a hill and everyone behind is stuck.0
