Knocked back on halifax clarity credit card

I'd have upset too then. I expected you to say gambling!I know it was a bit of a rant but I thought forums, especially MSE, were to express opinions & experiences of good or bad service.
None of it is business.
All personal,
Few holidays,
All food bills
Car insurance for 4 cars,
home insurance,
meals out,
dental,
vets bills,
petrol
Some school fees
quite easy to run up over 2k
Sometimes is is under 1k but not often.
I think I am entitled to be annoyed, a service I have had for many years & come to expect it not longer available through no fault of mine & with no customer service, it will take quite some time & effort to advise all those who take payment regularly.
Grasp the opportunity to get a better card.

Ignore the 'score' - it's irrelevant.
Bit confused about your comment that the red mark appeared today - do you have any more detail? Experian wouldn't report on whether you were rejected so it must be something else.
The red mark or negitive comment on my report is saying that i applied for a credit card within the last 6 months but was declined. I have only applied once in this time which was yesterday through halifax.
Which other cards would you recommend for use abroad in the States?
The halifax clarity has 0% charge on cashwithdrawals which really appealled me but i can't find another card that has this.0 -

I've just has a similar experience with the Halifax, what gets me is they give you no reason, I've got 3 accounts with them, get my wages paid into one of them, have my house insured with them and they turned me down with no reason. And I've been a customer for well over 20 years.
I've checked my credit and it's fine.0 -

Even if you've never missed a payment in your life and paid all bills on time doesn't guarantee an approval for a credit card, of course it helps but with credit card lenders taking in overall debts overall credit limits etc etc you never know.0 -
My thinking is have multiple cards and don't be loyal to one.
On Clarity, I have used it now in Spain, Switzerland, US, Korea and Taiwan. The rate I get is always without fail within 1% of the middle rate on xe.com, and is likely to be higher as lower. Basically there are no charges compared to the 2-3% I pay when I use big 4 banks (higher for small transactions).
For a second card, I got a Metrobank debit card. Same thing. No charges abroad. You have to go to one of their branches in the London area to open an account though.
You can even use the Clarity to withdraw cash. It is a hassle though to send a payment to pay it off straight away to avoid the immediate interest that a cash ATM withdrawal attracts. I had to phone them to get the credit card's sort code and account number. So the metrobank debit card is the best for foreign cash withdrawals.
There are very very few other cards with the same lack of charges.0
