It's not just this harvest that will affect the current milk increase however, but the last also, as that is the one the current/recently used feed was produced from. As with everything, the price changes don't always filter through until some time later, depending on far down the production chain from the raw product the item in question is.
If the recent BBC harvest three-parter is to be believed (that's a very big 'if' where the BBC is concerned) the wheat harvest this year wasn't very good in overall terms but the amount of high quality wheat (the kind useful for bread making) was good.
In 2103, Hovis, which had been making a big thing about only using British wheat in its plastic white loaves, had to drop the campaign as it was unable to source sufficient British flour. That was also the excuse for the dizzy price of bread this year.
Will it go down in 2104, given the greater availability of bread quality wheat harvested?
Answers on the back of a £20 note to the NFU, Allied Bakeries, EU, Tesco etc etc,,,,0 -

There had been no conversions - from conventional to organic production - since April 2009, and there were none in the pipeline....Soil Association policy director Peter Melchett said a lack of producers - 10% converted back to conventional each year in 2012 and 2011

I noticed this too. I always buy Duchy Organic skimmed milk from Waitrose as it's the only 4 litre organic skimmed milk I can find anywhere, everywhere else only does large sizes in semi and whole milk. Until recently it was on offer at 2 for £3. This week I bought 2 to discover that they had cost me £1.98 each as OP said. Grrr.0

I wonder if it because they have decided to give to farmer a bit more so that he is now producing milk at a loss instead of a huge loss !0

Asda milk is £1 for 4 pints, although I have to agree with yangptangkipperbang, the way the supermarkets treat dairy farmers in this country is an absolute disgrace0
