Dunroamin: Nothing will change when I finish uni and get a job, because I am out of the house for what is a full-time working week as it is. I am a full-time student and so spend all the weekdays out of the house 8 til 4. What will change is that I will have more money, unlike now, because at the moment I am using someone else's finance (SFE) to live on, whilst then I will be able to earn my own way in life. But in terms of time commitments: all the same, I am afraid!
So actually, you aren't a full time carer for your mother at the moment and don't plan to be in the future. It's a shame you've muddied the situation by claiming to be so.0 -
nimbo - my mother will not get the Carer's Allowance, as she is the person being cared for. This money only goes to someone who is not a care-worker as their main job. As anybody who is hired to care for her would in effect have that as their profession, there will be no Carer's Allowance that she can use to allow me to get a full-time job. Sorry, but this just isn't how the government does it. On another note, thank you for your well wishes
Poppy9 - to answer your question, "what you were looking for in posting" the reason why I came on here is to ask where SFE have set the threshold. I was told that and I thought we will all leave it at that. However, people on here seem to have a strong need to direct me as to how I need to live my life (get a full-time job, get outside care for my mother, etc., etc.) Hence, why I only thank the person who seems to have some sympathy for me and my life-situation, without feeling the need to tell me how I should do things in my own life.
jacques chirac - I have backed up my argument, telling in no uncertain terms why I feel I should have been awarded the money and how I intended to spend them. Just because you dont agree with my back-up points does not mean I have no back up points. Please, be more mindful of your suggestions
flea72 - good to see you feel the same way I do about at least one thing
Dunroamin - actually I AM a full time carer for your mother at the moment and I do plan to continue be in the future. The law actually stares that I need to care for my mother at least 35 hours a week in order to be classes as a full-time carer. I can tell you I spend more than 35 hours a week, even now that I am at uni full-time. If you need me to do the maths, uni takes me no more than 37 hours and there are 168 hours in a week. And even if we say I sleep for 1/3 of these (as most people do) that is 56. So 56+37=93. That is still 75 hours left in a wekk, which is more than the double the government's requirement for a full-time carer. So, please, make sure you get your facts right before making these rather hurtful accusations.
Anyone else wanna jump on the "lets bash Yockie" wagon that seems to be rolling across here this week???:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

As someone who actually is a full time carer, the idea that you can be so at the same time as being a full time student or working a full time job is obviously ludicrous, which is why people in those circumstances are unable to claim carers allowance.
As opposed to your twisted logic, my facts are accurate.0 -

Because the newbie is a complete moron who can only accept the opinions of people who can agree with them.
The situation preventing access to ADG is defined in legislation. The only way that would ever change is if it were to be amended in parliament, which is unlikely. SFE merely enforce the regulations they're given, so the decision to an extent is out of their hands. No discretion on the matter whatsoever.0 -

Seriously Taiko, you surely understand why the regulations have to be challenged and tested by those willing to take a bit of incoming? No legislation is ever perfect, but legislation intended to put young people in harness really should have received much more careful attention in the drafting. Especially as it seems inconsistently to exaggerate some rather insignificant relationships between student and parent but to completely ignore significant others.
It ought to be well known that young people have not yet learned how to judge good law versus bad or gained the confidence of their convictions in order to challenge decisions on their own cases. More care should have been exerted in creating the regulations and the guidelines for those implementing them.
I appreciate it causes work for persons such as yourself at busy times of the year like now, and that might explain your tetchiness - I am sure you didn't really mean to chastise the OP soFrom the late great Tommy Cooper: "He said 'I'm going to chop off the bottom of one of your trouser legs and put it in a library.' WOW!!!
Firstly, TurnUpForTheBooks, thank you for the support, at least I didnt feel completely alone on here.
Secondly, as George Carlin rightly said “Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
Taiko, being insulted like that - "a complete moron", just proves Mr. Carlin's point and it means this will be my last post here in this thread.
Good day to you all.0 -
