Telecure - Telephone Preference Service Scam

My 91 year old mother was subjected to a 15 min. harassing and very upsetting phone call from one of these lowlifes yesterday.Whilst she still has all her marbles, and asked all the right questions, she found the whole experience extremely upsetting and did not get any sleep at all last night. This a.m. She phoned the police who put her on to the Fraud Squad. They were very interested and will be following this scam up. I would urge every one who has been affected by these bottom feeders to contact the Fraud Squad on 0300 1232 040. The more people that report these incidents the better chance there is to get them caught and punished. You may be able to laugh it off,but there are those who are more vunerable, and these are the ones we need to protect.
Act now. Telephone 03001234040 and report them.you could well be saving someones life!!0 -
As previous posters have pointed out this is a dangerous scam, I just got called by Mike Williams telling me I'd been debited £49. Checked with my bank who said not true - not had been debited.
He asked for my bank debit card details to "Check I was who I said I was" ... and he had called me! Refused to give me his number, which is 0091911133916800, so obviously a call from the sub continent.
A nasty individual who needs putting out of business asap.0 -
I have just had the same call, same storyline etc from man called 'John' at Telecure. I also suspected straight away and requested the full address of the business. He was very unwilling and wouldn't give a postcode or phone number, just kept going back to the confirming authorisation part. He said when you confirm, all the address details will be confirmed in the letter. 'Why do you need them now?' I told him I wanted to check him out and thought it was a scam and if he wasn't prepared to give me the address it was clearly not genuine. He said that the payment would not be taken if I didn't want to go ahead. (Although he had already opened the conversation earlier by saying that the payment had been taken a couple of weeks ago) I had also asked him for the date the payment was made. He was very vague about it and said, 'About a couple of weeks ago' He put the phone down on me in the end.
Like others, I worry for the vulnerable. Some of these crooks are more convincing that Telecure as we know to our cost. BEWARE!0 -
Same for me. Someone with an Indian accent called "Martin" from Telecure claiming I'd paid £49 and he needed to do some security checks. I confirmed my name and address but got suspicious when he asked for my credit card number. I had looked into this type of service but hadn't agreed to sign up to one. Did they know that?
I said I had more than one card and didn't know which I may have used. He said it was Visa and again asked for the 16 digit number. I don't have a Visa card so refused. He then rang off.
If you get a call like this hang up!0 -
Same thing about £49 being deducted, I told him I had already reported him to the Fraud Squad. He said "And what will they do about it?" and I said "Track you down because Interpol are on your case" but he just laughed; so I told him to go forth and multiply and I put the phone down.0

Just had one of these calls. Guy with an Indian accent insisting that I had signed up to pay £49 but 'must have forgotten'. Wouldn't tell me which card I had authorised them to use - just kept saying visa debit. Then asked me to confirm details which, of course, I wouldn't give him. Fortunately I was at the computer when he rang. Popped telecure into google and it brought me straight to this forum. Such an ironic scam - they were claiming they would protect me from cold calls. In the I told him he was wasting my time and I put the phone down.0

I would give this a SCAM RATING of: Medium/High0

I had a call from them this morning asking for confirmation of the details I had supposedly given them in September! I made no such call. He said it takes 49 days for the debit to be set up and just wanted to confirm the details. I wasn't willing to divulge any details not even the name of my bank or the correct house address. He also said that if I wished to cancel this supposed agreement it would cost me in total £198!
These people are preying on the elderly or people less informed about fraud and it sickens me and I hope they are caught very soon.
The number he rang from is 030157256230 -
If you have read all the posts previous to this, all of this has happened to me but, I am being really harassed by these people, getting 2 or 3 calls per day. They are very threatening saying they will take all my money. I tell them to go ahead. They have so much brass neck. I rang the police who said that as no money had been taken they had not committed a crime, please tell everyone you know and warn them.0

I was contacted by these people a couple of months ago with the same story-we have deducted £49 from your account etc etc. When I said I would like to speak to their manager he got really shirty. Anyway it got me worried enough to check with my bank that this amount had not been taken out.
Last week I got another call from them saying the same thing, but when I said that I had definitely not signed up with them he just hung up! I am surprised they are still going, and do worry about them contacting elderly and vulnerable people.0
