Barclays Account - Cheque Clearance on a Saturday?

To anyone who has a Barclays account, do you know if a cheque that is due to 'clear' on Monday will show in my account tomorrow (Saturday) instead?

If I have any payments such as BACS going in on a Monday, they always show on the Saturday instead.

Does the same happen with cheques? I paid it into my account on Tuesday.

The guide as to cheque clearance follows something called the 2-4-6 rule http://www.chequeandcredit.co.uk/cheque_and_credit_clearing/cheque_clearing_timescales_(2-4-6)/

So if a cheque is paid into an account at a bank on a Tuesday as in this case a bank will allow withdrawal of the funds after 4 working days (so in this case can be withdrawn Saturday morning) and by a further elapse of 2 further working days (Mon & Tues) it is considered definitely paid and can not be returned unless it is a fraud situation.

Thanks for the link. When I put the 17th in though as the day I paid it in, it shows that withdrawal will not be allowed until Monday.

I was just wondering if cheques will be treated the same as BACS payments and still show from midnight tonight, even though it's not due to clear until Monday

With my own bank you would have available funds tomorrow morning(clear to withdraw) against the cheque paid in last Tuesday. Not sure about the situation with Barclays although this link appears to indicate funds available after 1.00am in the morning on Saturday. http://ask.barclays.co.uk/help/day2day_banking/chequeclearing
The cheque will be fully paid (fully cleared) on Wednesday morning.
