Renewal Of Driving Licence?
Hi all I passed my test back in 1969 and since then have just replaced my licence three times because of change of address.
l have still got the pink paper type which is valid from 1978 to 2019
I have never had a photo licence. is this ok or should everyone have a photo type?

Still valid. There are noises to phase out the old paper licences but nothing concrete yet.0

They're still valid, but not an acceptable form of ID and if pulled over, you may be advised to go for the new card type.0

It's been acceptable (as recently as a week ago) whenever I've shown it.0

Acceptable as a valid driving licence yes - but not as a form of ID.0 -
Paper-only licences are still valid although the law allows the secretary of state to set a date after which they won't be.
You might find it difficult to hire a car with one, especially abroad. The clerk at an airport car hire desk is unlikely to know (or even less, car) about the international agreements which mean your licence is still valid even though it was printed decades ago.
Your entitlement to drive will normally still last until you are 70, regardless. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
