Missed DD wont effect credit rating?

HI,
I had RAC home insurance on a pay monthly DD. I made all payments and on renewal I emailed them to tell them I wont be renewing and to cancel my account after it ended. I then cancelled my DD after they had taken a final payment.
I made all payments required and took home insurance elsewhere. However I then got a letter from RAC saying they tried to take 1st payment for renewal and it got rejected. Turns out they say they didn't receive my email, but they have cancelled all charges etc.
My question is will this effect my credit score. I spoke to a guy at Experian (who I was tempted to open an account with) and he said that I shouldn't worry as most insurance direct debit plans don't appear on your credit file.
Does anyone know if this is true? I have an excellent credit rating and never missed a payment so don't want this effecting mine!
Cheers,
Chris

You dont have a credit score or rating so neither will be affected.
Chances are that RAC will not record any data on your credit file but would be prudent to obtain a £2 statutory report from Experian and Equifax to ensure all the other data is correct.0
