The AA

Hi, Apologies if i am post in the wrong thread.... I took out roadsite assistance with the AA, and they automatically gave me Home Emergency cover free for a set number of months. The free period has now expired, and i am ashamed to say that i am useless and opening letters and checking my bank statements. I have now noticed a monthly fee coming out for this service, which i never asked for nor wanted. I feel that they are unreasonable to expect me to pay for this, fair enough i didn't open some letters, but did i sign a contract with them to open my post on a regular basis? No i didn't, and i never asked for the policy, and was never told during the call that it was for a free period only and that i had to cancel it myself to prevent any payments coming out... and my final point is that i did not sign a direct debit mandate for that service either.... i only signed up for the road assistance.....
Any thoughts on whether i am within my rights to claim this back from them and cancel the policy? I will be cancelling the direct debit before they try to take the next payment.
Thanks, all advice appreciated.
Kay.

Cancel the policy rather than the direct debit otherwise they will penalise you for cancelling the payment, but not rhe service.
If they made it clear it was a freebie and that you would then have top pay for it, you haven't got much of a leg to stand on, the onus is on you to stop the service. You were informed about it by post. If you're going to try to say that it's their fault because you don't open your own post, good luck with that one.....
If you think they didn't explain it properly, you can tell them this, cancel it and ask them nicely to refund your payments.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
