Still looks as if it's illegal to take codeine into Greece without a valid prescription

Quite bloody right too, should apply to every town and city.

Would even go as far to say it should only apply to the beach. Absolutely hate it when on holiday you go into a bar and you see a bare chested fat bloke dripping sweat in an area that food is served:mad:
  • And remember the British female teacher in Sudan who inappropriately named a teddy bear without realising? Seemed to be completely unintentional, yet people were protesting for her to be executed.

Just shows how laws and beliefs differ quite greatly, and we probably often don't research enough before visiting other countries.

How would anyone know you had it?

I get it on prescription...would the form on the back of the prescription with which you re order be sufficient proof if anyone found you with the codeine?

I'd add that you should be very careful with taking medication with you on trips to the Middle East, especially the stricter Islamic countries, UAE ,Saudi etc. I've often witnessed people being taken away in Dubai airport for questioning about medications.

Also keep in mind that if you flight is diverted, you will be subject to local law in the country you land in. I've twice been diverted to Dubai, both times I've flushed my entire travel medical kit which contained various perscriptions. On one of those occasions an entire family was taken away by officals as they had Codeine, they were not on the plane when we departed six hours later

Be very careful with any medications in those countries, they have zero tolerance for drugs.

In Burma (Myanmar) it is frowned upon (if not outright illegal) to sleep if your head is not pointing east
