I saw this query elsewhere but it wasn't answered.
I'd be interested if anyone could help because I have a similar problem.
I have some DOC files transfered to my new PC which runs on W8 from an old PC which runs on Windows XP.
When I try to open these DOC files the new PC tries to open them, by default. with Firefox and I have to go through clicking this and that to change the means of opening them to Openoffice.
How can I make Openoffice the default for opening DOC files on my W8 PC?

Right click on the file, Open with, Choose program, Select program, Tick Always use this program, OK:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Thanks but the Always use this programme box isn't highlighted, it's the grey colour which means it can't be ticked. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0
