Sky TV trying to pull a fast one - please be aware

Please find an email I have sent to Sky.com yesterday after wasting nearly 2 hours on the phone to achieve nothing....

Dear Whom it may concern,

Never have I been so angry at the way a company hashandled a complaint.

Yesterday whilst checking my online banking I noticed I had been charged £49rather than the usual £25. This worried me straight away because I work on avery small budget and the £25 difference is my petrol to get me to work nextweek.

I rang Sky straight away and the lady I spoke to advisedit was because my 'six month half price offer' was over. I told her it wasdefinitely 12 months half price that I had signed up to. The lady said thesystem showed "no evidence" of my claim being correct! The lady thenwent to speak with her manager. I had then been on the phone for 34 minutes (ofmy 40 minute lunch break) so needed to put the phone down before she could comeback to me.

I got home from work and looked at my file and straightaway noticed the printout of order confirmation from your website confirming itwas 12 months half price.

Armed with this information, I rang Sky again to makethem aware I had information that proved I was correct. The man I spoke withasked me to email the printout I had via Sky.com and he would ring me on Monday23rd with an update. Then it would be 3 - 5 days to process the refund. That iswell over a week before I get my money back and that is far too long!

I asked to speak with a manager because I need that moneyto get me to work next week! The manager was actually quite rude, not at allsympathetic. He told me there was nothing he could do apart from me send theform via the Sky.com website and then someone would be in touch next week. Iwent on to the Sky.com website whilst on the phone with the manager and saidthere was no way of uploading an attachment on the form he mentioned. He saidthere was nothing he could do other than suggesting I post the printout I had.

After I got off the phone I noticed this email address soI have attached the form to this email.

In summary, I have not approved that payment to be takenout of my bank. The deal I had was for 12 months half price. I am now in adesperate financial situation because your system is wrong. I have wastednearly 3 hours of my own precious time on this.

Please can you look at this and get it sorted as soon aspossible.

  • Was it paid via Direct Debit. If yes, then AFAIK your bank can get it reversed PDQ :)

(prepare for the fallout from Sky though)
  • Didn't think about that, thanks.

Don't know what to do really, I am hoping they will get back to me before Monday......who knows.

The manager was so rude though, really dismissive. Grrrrr

Get in touch with the bank today and get the process started to reverse it. Sky can always recollect the correct amount later

    What are they checking for?
The OP already knows what they have been charged and why.

  • I understand why you are upset, the managers at sky make no apologies, take no initiative and in some cases are (if possible) more infuriating than the staff. Keep going and threaten to contact Ofcom, Watchdog or the press with your issues.

    Good luck

That's the point, they know from looking at their online banking, had they checked the bill they were sent in advance of Sky taking the money the problem would not have occurred.
  • Post publicly on the sky facebook page. They're very quick to help out when their other customers are watching!
