Shared Ownership

I am about to buy 25% of my home through a housing association and wondered whether I would be able to let out the house when I go abroad in about a years time. At the moment I can't due to a clause in my tenancy agreement but I assume this would change once I own 25% of the property.

Just wondered whether anyone knew for sure?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi we have a shared ownership (50%) and our housing asc do not allow any shared ownership houses to be let out (even a lodger isn't allowed). Although this may not apply to all housing associations:confused:

As Michael Winner says "Calm down dear".

We can all speculate, but a quick call to the housing association in question would reveal all.

Sometimes people just need help to find the answer for themselves. Have you heard about "Teaching a man to fish..."?

You don't like my replies so feel free to put me on "Ignore" I would consider it an honour and a priviledge.

This way your sensitive nature won't be hurt by my replies.

    :

How about this as a variation:

"teach a man to light a fire and he will be warm all night.

Set fire to him and he will be warm for the rest of his life"

    :D

Back to the OP and topic...

It's highly unlikely that any Housing Association will allow you to let your property - that goes against the very nature of S/O!

However, given the experience of the eejit living below me, what the Housing Association don't know (and don't care about), won't hurt them.... downstairs has someone different living there every other week......

    Indiegirl,

Some Housing Associations do, some don't.

A quick call would be all that's needed.

    Back off topic...
