Hi everyone, happy Friday!
Thanks for starting us off LPP.
Ally - Thanks for all the links I will check those out in a minute. I requested my Baileys sample last night thanks to you
Today's plan:-
- Making use of free water at work
- Food from stores, leftovers for lunch
- Dinner from meal plan - Risotto
- Staying in for my lunch break to avoid spending
- Log calories & exercise on free apps
- Checked birthday bingo
- Check online banking & enquire why our 0% overdraft is ending next month, I am sure we had longer on it...
- Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
- Enter some comps
- Do some surveys
- Declutter & flylady
- DH hopefully doing some overtime today
- Heating off, fleecey dressing gowns on instead
- Hoping to hear back about temp promotion, fingers crossed!
- Today is day 5 of the 30 days challenge - free exercise using DVD
- Create a meal plan using up everything from stores. We have about £3 left of our budget until the 28th  - Didn't get round to this last night
- Go through next month's budget, it's looking good so far & we'll make up for this month's overspends if we're sensible about it

- Go to second job tonight, getting a lift in so I can socialise afterwards
- Convince DH to do his washing on a 30 degrees setting again...
- Renewed breakdown cover after chasing up Mr T's clubcard...not impressed as it is saying it will renew it from 06/09/13 despite me being without breakdown cover all this time

Just entered a competition (really hoping we win this one too!) & gone to get my toilet roll coupon, unfortunately the closest Tesco food evening is a whopping 35 miles away from us so we'll give that one a miss.:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

Smithyboss wrote: »Morning everyone,
My very 1st post on here
I've been a lurker for a very long time but now I've decided to get involved.
Today I have made my own lunch, I walk to and from work anyway and I work in a coffee shop so I get all my hot drinks for free. Definitely a NSD for me.
Welcome, Smithyboss
Thanks LPP for starting us off today!
Ziggy- Hope you are feeling better soon!
Today i have/will:
-Been to work (overtime...but TGIF!!!)
-Keep heating off
-Checked OLB
-Paid for car tax (6 months, not 12)
-Walked to/from School
-Ate from meal plan
-Took lunch to work
-Borrowed a DVD from a friend instead of buying one to watch later
Have a great day!0 -
Hello all, I've not been around for a week or so, but things are a bit quieter at work today, so today I have:
Called Student Loan Company and found out I only have ten more payments left to make (meaning that my loan will be repaid 9 years after leaving uni!) I have now swapped this to Direct Debit to make sure that there is no chance of taking too much money from me and backed that up with an email to payroll
Transferred some paypal funds and paid a bit more off of nasty credit card (only 3.42 but all helps!)
Re-calculated my snowball, if my cunning plans work I could be credit card debt free by May... leaving just a personal loan outstanding and previously mentioned student loan
A NSD for me as refused to leave office and used emergency cup-a soup found whilst cleaning my desk drawer !
Dinner will be from stores
Make a shopping list and book a free click&collect slot for Mr T for when we are passing next week
Wrap up a gift for a friend using home made/decorated wrapping paper instead of buying more
Charge work mobile at work instead of at home like I normally do!
I also tried to chase up flybe for a compensation claim, but their office closes at 2pm, so have set a diary reminder to do it on Monday
Booked our car parking in advance for our holiday travels using 10% off voucher code
Researched car hire for trip to Italy - no great deals at the moemtn, will keep looking!
Happy Friday everyone!0 -
Good afternoon, Today has been a bit of an up and down day not too worry I will get there and sort things out some how. I sorted out the problems that I had with my college course only to get home to a letter telling me that I would not get a bursary however on the plus side I can still get my course fees paid. I think the letter has however given me a kick up the !!!, as I feel determined to get things sorted out and make/save money where I can. OK moan/rant over time to get things done.
LLP- Thanks for starting the thread off today
Ziggy - Hope you are feeling better.
My list for today
Attend college
Sort out course problems
Phone council regarding bins not getting emptied
Make a shopping list and do online shop (basics only)
Phone and book table for family meal out (DH's 50th at the weekend)
Nectar adpoints
Check birthday bingo and postcode lottery
Make a list of things that I need to get done before the end of this month
Catch up with emails
Surveys
Discuss college letter with DH
Update family finances
All meals from stores
Have a look at DH's ebay account - he is having probs and doesn't know what is wrong
Look for freelance work
Laundry
I think that is probably enough for me to be getting on with this evening. Hugs to those that/want need them x0 -
I love these threads! They give so many good ideas for money saving.
A couple of things I've done this week (not just today).
* Make homemade soup from carrots getting close to their sell-by date. Half a dozen portions in the freezer to warm me up at lunch time during the autumn and help me avoid putting the heating on.
* Ordered some ultra cheap fingerless gloves on the internet to wear indoors so I can void putting the heating on but still get on with jobs!
* Made a vegetable lasagne from bits of leftover veg in the bottom of the fridge and part of the four litre (!) carton of milk OH bought thinking it was a bargain even though we barely get through two litres in a week!
* Made an extra batch of bechamel sauce using the aforementioned milk and froze for the next time I need to turn leftover veg into a lasagne.
* Reminded OH that if he borrows my car for evening journeys he needs to write down the miles he's travelled and put in an expenses claim for them too.
* Avoided the trip into town this week to buy nephew's birthday present when his birthday is not until October. A cheque came through the post the day after I'd planned to go in and would have meant another trip into town (more petrol and parking fee) to bank the money. :T
* Transferred a little money into a savings account to put towards Christmas expenses. I've been doing this daily for a while now - a £1 a day plus any pence left in my current account. This way I'm not tempted to spend it and it earns interest and I can pay for Christmas in December 2013 not January 2014!
* Checked daughter's wish list on amazon and noticed something she wanted had gone massively down in price since she put it on there so ordered it for her stocking.
* Renewed house insurance via the meerkat site and got my free meerkat plus saved £80. The meerkat in her stocking will take up loads of room so I won't have to buy much else to make it look full!0 -
Hi bit late to this today but better late than never.
Today has been NSD 5. Yay!
Walked the school run both times.
Paid a cheque into the JA
Vaccumed the hallway with my newly fixed by me cleaner.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Afternoon DFW'ers!!

Courgette bake for dinner with smoked bacon - yum!!
Ring First Direct and activate account & set up Regular Saver
Bull work boots and apply waterproofing so they stay tidy for winter
30-Day-Shred - OH is threatening to join me tonight - we'll see!! :rotfl:
Early night!!!!!! Absolutely shattered and only halfway through a crazy set of shifts this week!
Lots of MSE love gang xxx:T DEBT FREE AS OF APRIL 2013! :T"I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul"0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm back! And in more debt.... But completely different situation to early on in the year!
Earlier this year:
Total debt - £5000
Now:
Credit card - £250
Mortgage - £105000
Loan from Parents - £10150
Yep, I borrowed money from parents to get a deposit and finally move out into my own place (moved in last Friday!). Yes I know borrowing money is bad, and I will struggle, but is SO much better for me than living in a bedroom!
Need to get back on this thread because it really helped out getting my debt down and budgeting. Want to pay off parents in 5 years. And hoping to finish my accountancy exams next year.
Things done today:- Checked bank
- Checked app on phone
- Brought in a sandwich for lunch, someone must of stolen it because it wasn't in the fridge when I went to eat it! Annoyed!! Had to buy lunch £4... Of course everyone denied knowledge!! Grrrr
- Resisted shop for snacks
- Also didn't order the new iPhone ally, my first year without doing this lol!
- Need to do a meal plan for next week, got quite alot of food in atm so should be a cheapest shop..
- No heating! - Haven't had the heating on yet.. I'm so tight! Slept in a hoody last night! Lol!
- See if I can figure out how to plumb the washing machine in!!
