Fri 20th Sept - What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing Today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. .

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

    Afternoon Money-savers,
Busy list today....don't seem to be getting though it very fast!
*Do back from holiday laundry - 1 load managed overnight on Economy 7 tariff - rest done on normal tariff (grrr) to make use of dry day for line-drying. 30 deg & half powder.
*Collect cat from cattery & made sure to bring back remaining food (we supply our own as he's on a special diet & the bloomin' stuff's so pricey, I make sure I always remember to ask).
    *Make bread rolls.
*Pick veggies - looks like another lb of tomatoes, 2 cukes, peppers, grapes & a stack of runner beans. Other stuff will have to wait.
*Pack away tent carpet, aired last night over dining chairs with dehumidifier on. Spread tent footprint outside over garden chairs to dry mud before brushing off & packing. (Having invested in camping kit, we don't want to be buying again, just because we haven't looked after it properly).
*Virgin Media bloke came to sort out our new free Tivo box & mr f made sure we are now getting the correct level of service we're paying for, inc. improved broadband speed etc, before he left the house for his next appointment. Their longstanding customers are not automatically upgraded onto the latest offerings.....we queried a price change against the tariff on their website & found that we were being short-changed compared to new customers.
*Update grocery budget, having added in small amount leftover from holiday spends.
*Do meal plans for next week, factoring in that we will both be doing a week of hardcore Rosemary Conley to offset holiday excesses!
    *Write shopping list.
*Freeze 39p pack of yellow-stickered rolls found in local shop this morning when we popped in for milk.
*My latest Toluna £30 Debenhams giftcard arrived in the post this morning, so that'll help with replacing winter clothes in a size that fits. This weight loss can be very expensive!
    *Knit Christmas present.
Think that's it for today. Must go & shape the bread dough now, then off down the bean patch with my trusty basket & scissors. Was aiming to be sitting on my bum with a cuppa & my knitting by 5pm, but it isn't going to happen.
    Cheers,
