This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Thank goodness it's Friday and I can't way for 3.30pm when my weekend begins!

Job list for the weekend is a long one but if it doesn't all get done, there is always next week. Life feels too short to care much at the moment.

DH had a lovely birthday, thanks for all the good wishes. We have planned our meal out with DD and GDD so am looking forward to that on Sunday.

No idea what is for dinner tonight so had better go and look in the freezer before I get dressed for work. Salads for lunch, though the delicious salad vegetables of this lovely summer are starting to get a bit lack lustre now and I think we will be back to home made soups soon.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

I'm quite happy that my weight is slowly coming down as well and the nurse is pleased with my progress.BMI is dropping which is good
Hope you all have a good day and the sun shines down on your washing :):):)

  • Morning all
Chilly here this morning and damp, I hope it brightens up as I have washing to dry.
Hugs to all the usual suspects and anyone else in need.
Fish have been fed, so have I, hubby's having breakfast at work the canteen have started to offer a 5 item breakfast, sausage, bacon, hash brown, baked beans and toast £1.95. I doubt he'll eat it again, he doesn't like hash browns, doesn't eat baked beans for breakfast and the toast will be cold, lol. They are also offering a free bowl of porridge to staff and students, he won't eat porridge!
Plans for today, I'm not making any, I never achieve anything apart from the crochet, but if I have any energy I'll do something, probably, possibly, or maybe not. Can you tell I'm getting really hacked off?
Hubby is working Saturday and possibly Sunday as well, depending on the contractors who are working.
I'm babysitting tonight, only 8 til 10 and I'm getting collected and dropped off and the children will be in bed and asleep, so all I have to do is sit on a different sofa for a couple of hours.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning everyone :j

Yay it's Friday!!! Hubby came home yesterday with his new contract for work and a nice little payrise. I have to properly budget now though as I don't know if he will be paid at the end of this month or wait until the end of October . At least our tax credits get paid weekly so we will have some money coming in for shopping and bills.

DD10 will be back to school today, she's been sick so has had the last couple of days off. I hope she manages to have a better term than the last one as she was off a lot with various illnesses. I thought we would be in trouble with it but thankfully the school didn't get funny. She's had a MOT from the doctor and all seems well, she's just a prime target for any bugs going around.

I'm having a go at making homemade turkey burgers today. I've made beef burgers before so I'm guessing the principle is the same. I'm going to add sage and grated onion for flavour. I hope they will turn out ok. I'm also making some coleslaw to go with them. Can you tell I'm back following weightwatchers yet again.:rotfl::rotfl:

I have to pop over tescos this morning to get my photos done in the booth for my application for a bus pass. My psychiatrist has written me a very helpful letter in support so fingers crossed I should get one as due to my illnesses and medications I will never be able to drive . It will make a lot of difference to me being able to go out and about. :) Hopefully though my eldest DD will pass her test and then she said she will take me out as well. I just need to get through the winter as this is my worst time. I'm looking into buying a SAD light from Maplins the next time we get paid as I've heard great things about them. Every little helps as they say :D

Today is going to be a nice day though, the sun is shining, the green wheelie bin men have just took out my bin for me as I forgot this morning (and advised me to put a bucket of water in it to clean it out :o) and the girls have got ready without that incessant bickering so I'm happy. Hope everyone manages to have a great day too.
Take care and as always, gentle hugs for all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x

    Morning all,

Dry here but much cooler this morning, we are all off to work today I need to drop the dog at my mums and dd at work before heading off myself.

The rest of the lamb from yesterday for dinner tonight will do some mash and veg with it.

Having some porridge for breakfast, it really warms you up on these cold mornings.

Will try and do a wash tonight its meant to be really nice over the weekend so would be good to get it all done.

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning all,

Haven't got a lot planned for today, just the usual chores and a quick nip to Tesco. I try not to have to go to the supermarket on a Friday, Sat or Sun as it's always so busy.

It's supposed to be quite nice weather for the weekend so might try and do a bit of tidying in the garden.

I've had some quite sad news regarding a friend's DIL and am still in a bit of a state of shock.

Have a lovely day all :)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Cloudy but dry here this morning, forecast is for bright and sunny later, so will put washing on line shortly.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was HM quiche, with jacket potatoes, cheese, beans, and salad, jam and cream sponge/twinks for dessert for those that had room. Tonight I'm not sure what we will be eating but will be an easy dinner just because it's Friday!

Wasn't particularly productive yesterday, struggled to settle to do anything then managed to pull myself round and did get some washing, drying and ironing done, run the hoover over very quickly so although not ultra clean, it's ok. Will be going into town shortly, need to visit the bank, do food shopping and more washing, drying and ironing. Also will assist DS1 with writing/telephoning companies to see about work experience whilst he's doing his college course. May do a bit of baking/cooking, although the tins are not empty - but if I don't bake anything they won't last too far past the weekend so if I'm able I need to do something today - failing that tomorrow as DH and DS1 are working. Have been checking out my cookery books as we seem to be in the food rut yet again, looking for different recipes to try.

Have a good Friday everyone, weather looks better for the weekend too.

    Keep safe and well x

Bright here today, but chilly so I have yet more washing in the machine.
Saw the Doctor last night and she thinks it might just be a blip, she has increased my metformin by another 500g for a week, so I am now on 2500 g a day and I have to go back and see her next Wednesday.
I found out why she took me off of sitagliptin because she explained it has been found to cause pancreatitis in a large number of people and in some cases pancreatic cancer  so I am glad that I no longer take it.
I have podiatry clinic at 10.20 so I must get in the shower.

  • Good morning :D
Lovely morning here today, dry and sunny :D
Off to walk Luna shortly and then it's back to tackle the ironing.
House needs a quick tidy round and I really need to sort out cha going addresses for things.....don't some but got fed up of hanging on the phone forever trying to get through to people :o

If weather is going to be nice I want to wash and dry Lunas bedding. No TD yet (although I have been promised one) so the line will have to do for a bit longer.

H is out tonight for a work BBQ so I may as well just have fish fingers and chips with the kids. Early baths all round and then snuggles on the sofa infront of the TV. Well that's the idyllic plan in my head. I am sure one or both of my children will scupper those plans

Hugs and spoons all round xxx

    Morning

It looks like a beautiful day , the washing is in and ill put it on the line .when it's done

Dd2 has gone to school, it's great now she can drive , she's whizzes off ( in my car). But it does mean I don't have to take her as its across the city
Housework to do , however I've woken up with a very stiff, sore back so anything below knee level will have to wait  washing up is done and I've fed the piggies .

Not had breakfast yet , think it will just be a slice of toast

Dd2 finishes at lunch time and we are off with dd1 to meadowhall , dd1 is back to uni tomorrow so it's last minute bits to pick up. I shall miss her , but she's coming back in 4 weeks for dd2 18 th :j

Have a good day everyone xx
