slight boob

I have been getting lots of PPI calls and have been winding the callers up.
However that seems to have increased the frequency of the calls so I have taken to telling the callers that the person they are trying to reach (me) has died and I am only here to organise his funeral.
I do this to any caller that sounds Indian or Pakistani or super cheerful English sounding bint who calls me by my first name because my surname is normally unpronounceable to these Indian or Pakistani or cheerful English sounding bints.
So I get a call that sounds like it is from a call centre, you know the signs, asking to speak to me using my Christian name from a cheerful English sounding bint and as she won't tell me the purpose of the call until I confirm who I am I tell her that he has died and I am only here sorting through his effects.
She goes OH! and hangs up.
2 mins later the phone rings again and the caller is male and sounds Scottish, I live in Scotland.
He asks who I am and I tell him I am not telling him until he tells me who he is.
He tells me he is DR. (redacted) from (redacted) surgery and then it dawns on me.
The previous caller was a receptionist from the surgery calling to tell me that the test result from my blood test was back and I was to make an appointment with the doctor.
Guess I'll have to find something else to tell all the PPI callers.

Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:

Slight boob? More like a storm in an A cup.0

maybe its just me but i find quite a lot of this post offensive.. whilst ultimately you were proved to be wrong, i think using death as a feeble excuse, and instantly dismissing indian or pakistani voices is wrong..
a simple no, a simple reject call, or hang up would be better than generalised racism and lies0 -

OP also dismissed cheery English people too.
Now, I'm not at all accusing the OP of being racist - as I've already said, I found his story highly amusing - but, shouldn't that have been in your 'racism' accusation too? Seen as the OP is Scottish/lives in Scotland? Or is it just the Pakistani and Indian callers racism applies to nowadays?Weight Loss3lb Lost32lb To Go:xmassmile 8 Week Christmas Cracker SW Challenge :xmassmile3lb/12lb0 -
Also bint is an offensive term too... How delightful the op takes pleasure in upsetting people just doing their jobSpelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.0 -
Luckily not all of us Scottish folks are the same. I used to find that asking who was calling did the trick, the person told you, and then you could determine whether you wanted to continue with the call, or say that you were not interested and hang up.0

my callers are treated to loud radios, flushing toilets, hoovers and all sortsBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

So, sounding Indian or Pakistani is now racist.....some people
get off on accusing others of being racist, sexist, anti gay, I think.Je suis sabot...0 -

why is it wrong. The OP may live in a community where they have no Asian or Indian friends. So apart from the doctors ringing up in this case. The only time Indian and Asian would ring up is to sell something.
I keep hearing they are only doing there job. Well unfortunately its a part of the job of working in a call centre that this will happen.
If I pick up the phone and get a mumbled foreign voiced phone call, I will assume they are the on sell. Guess what? they are.
If that makes me racist. Then so be it. But its a little OTT in my opinion.0 -
The least stressful, is just to say 'hold on a moment' put the phone to one side and forget about it for half an hour.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
