Best and cheapest way to send heavy-ish large-ish package

The box size is one that you would expect to see 24-32 bags of crisps in and weighs around 2 kilos.. It's full of gifts for my friend's new baby and is going 200 miles inland.
Would the P.O. be the best bet? Or a courier? Maybe Staples???
Sorry this isn't related to ebay etc, but I couldn't find anywhere else on the forum to ask how much packages would cost to post, and I guessed people on here would know, as they send a lot of parcels.

You need to know the exact weight. Up to 2kg can go MyHermes for £4.20, if it is over 2kg then it will be dearer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oh I never heard of them..I guess I could weigh it at the P.O and get a price from them and then say I will be back later and then use someone cheaper LOL0

I use parcel2go quite often, and its very easy to get a quote once you know your parcel dimensions and weight.
For me, its normally been the convenience of them picking it up and having a comparison of other couriers and international postageGive me a tenner, and I'll spend it in an hour....
Give me a million, and I'll spend it even quicker0 -

RM price finder here, but you will need to know the exact weight:

A basic medium parcel up to 2kg and insured for £20 would be £8 2nd classI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I use Interparcel, a courier reseller
You can choose from a wide range of courier companies, services and prices.
I usually choose Hermes. Hermes get mixed reviews on here but they have never let me down.
I have also received a few deliveries via Hermes, again without any problems.0 -
I placed my order late on Thursday afternoon and my parcel was picked up early evening the same day. I followed the tracking option and saw it had been delivered to the final destination state on the Saturday morning. Parcel arrived Monday.
Fantastic service. Wouldn't hesitate to use again.0 -
+1 for parcel2go
also +1 for Collect+ (in the UK)0 -
Parcel2go are excellent. I recently posted a huge rug that weighed 15kg and was over 2 metres in length when rolled. Cost me £13 to send. Excellent value and service - arrived at the buyers address within 24hrs of it being collected from me - despite me paying for a 48hr service.0
