Room Thermostat Gas Central Heating
Hi,
Does anyone know if it is a REQUIREMENT (Building/Legal?) to have a room thermostat installed when a new boiler is fitted?
I have recently had a new boiler fitted under the Affordable Warmth Scheme. The installer (BG) removed my existing timer and replaced it with a combined wireless timer/thermostat. It doesn't control my heating as well as the previous timer. The thermostat has been fitted right next to my kitchen and when I'm cooking etc. it rises, but the two rooms upstairs are freezing!
I had TRV's on all four radiators (one bedroom house) but they removed one of them as a "feeder" or something :undecided
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

There should be no TRV on the radiator closest to the thermostat.
How long are you cooking for? I'd just turn the thermostat up to 25 or so until you have finished cooking and wait until the temperature in the room drops before turning it down again. The TRV's will manage the temperature in the other rooms so once they get up to temperature the heat will only come out of the radiator next to the thermostat.:footie:

As it is a wireless thermostat (programmable I presume) why not move it into a more suitable location.
But bear in mind the advice above about the TRV on the nearest radiator. If one is fitted in the new location it should be turned up to maximum, ie always on.0 -
Yes, Building Regs require a room 'stat/programmer and TRV's on new installs. No free lunch, and no free laptop
