Buying a house with equity release

I'm really frustrated about a house purchase as my buyer is ready to proceed, but there's been no contract received by my solicitor for the house I'm buying.

The first delay was because it has never been registered so the deeds needed locating, anyway apparently they turned up last Friday and the vendor's estate agent said the solicitor promised to have them with my solicitor on Monday. They were requested the contracts on 2/9 and the deeds were chased on 6/9, finally arriving on 13/9.

Monday's been and gone, flurry of reminder emails and the vendor's solicitor appears to be silent on the issue. My solicitor also informs me there is equity release involved. Will equity release delay the sale? I'm close to the point of saying to the vendor's estate agent tell them if no contract by the end of tomorrow I'm looking for a different house. Am I overreacting?

Overreacting, yes. It seems to be normal for solicitors to move at snails pace and do everything in series.
  • I am probably a bit upset that the vendor's solicitors promised to have contracts with my solicitor on Monday and progress appears to have ground to a halt. In addition OH is cooking marrow for dinner so I'm upset.

Is equity release likely to be a delaying issue then?
