Halifax Bank Account

Hi Guys
Some time ago I had a ultimate reward account with the Halifax and had to use an overdraft whilst unexpectedly off work thru no fault of my own.
After returning back to work I started to pay the overdraft back but started falling behind and into severe financial difficulty. I dealt with it by way of turning to a debt management company who took all my problems and put them into a manageable monthly payment (before someone states the obvious I know they charge a fee)
I have an separate active account with the Halifax which rarely gets used, I don't use it to have my salary paid in through fear of Halifax taking all my money when they see fit to repay the debt from the other account.
I've recently spoken to the bank about the active account and whether I am still able to use it for day to day activity, and was told I could and money wouldn't be taken from this account, but is this true? Or are the bank just trying to get me to start depositing money to the account so they can take my money when they see fit.
I'd like to start using the Halifax again for my banking needs as before the problems I had, they were the best bank (in my opinion) I am currently with Natwest and as good as a Bank they are they limit where your able to withdraw cash from an ATM.
