Using Halifax Clarity card in Vietnam & Cambodia?

Options
We are going to Vietnam & Cambodia next month, we have a Halifax clarity card & would like to use this as much as possible to pay for things & withdraw some cash from ATMs (We will have back up cards/£ & US$ cash too just in case ) Has anyone got any experience (good or bad!)of using this card in these counties? We understand that most ATMs in Vietnam & Cambodia charge a withdrawal fee? (Not the Halifax but the Banks ATM used) Any information on the best banks (i.e. low fee) to withdraw cash from would be much appreciated!
Many thanks
Too much of a good thing can be wonderful!

Call Halifax and let them know where you are going and the dates.
It's not a gurantee but will reduce the chance of your card getting stopped.

Post on the Overseas Travel board - there are a few people there who will be able to answer your question about charges and which banks to use.

As Lisyloo says. Its worth doing, but when I worked for Halifax years ago, all they did was make a note in the notes section of the computer where you were going and when, but it didn't make any difference in terms of the card being declined or not.

If the card was stopped, then it would have been stopped whether or not you'd phoned the Halifax to tell them. Whether this has since changed, who knows, but knowing banks I doubt it.
