Sky 50% deal terminated - because I upgraded online

I used an MSE code to become a new Sky customer for 50% off for 1 year. I upgraded to add Sky Sports online. As this had a one-off credit this has cancelled the half price discount. If I had known that I would never have bothered!
I had an online chat and he said the discount over rode the half price so cancelled it automatically. I asked where that is written and he said "your contract"
Well peeved off

Sore one.
I have a Q.
My only current deal is for line rental + broadband. I pay full wack for TV top tier. I have a saved online chat stating that I can cancel eg. movies and sports and my deal will be honoured/unaffected.
Can anyone tell me if this is indeed the case?0 -
I believe often you change your package you start a new 12 month contract and therefore lose any benefits associated with the previous contract.0

Yes but are the viewing and telephony packages separate?0

I did and it says "this offer is not available in conjunction with other offers". So Sky chose to cancel 50% off offer and apply new one rather than not apply credit and let previous one carry one.
If I have an offer applied to my account of 50% off, and I upgrade online and the upgrade has an offer attached which is not available with a current offer, why would Sky apply the current offer regardless?0 -

Telephony services are separate to television services0 -
I would phone sky retentions and explain the situation - hopefully some solution will be found.
Don't do online chat for anything in my opinion - mostly someone from India reading from a script.0 -

I phoned Sky and spoke to a trainee (long times on hold and I could hear prompting from his colleague) who raised a complaint for me and told me to call back within 48 hours. Called back and was told "we will call you"0 -
Sky have agreed that the T&C of the offer are not "clear and precise" so have reinstated my 50% off offer until 22 September 2013. I'm very happy with the resolution0
