How to recognise a dodgy company

  • I'm certain they must be active, what worries me is the no cash in the bank nor assets. This seems impossible if they are legit. Doesn't this mean no sales ever? Anyway, thanks everyone for helping me.

A bad indicator is the fact there is no contact address / phone number on the site - only a contact form.

The website is shockingly badly designed.

Stay clear. I know it's hard for certain people (I'm looking at you ladies) to stop yourself purchasing from a site if it has the perfect colour / it's cheaper etc but look at the signals.
  • thanks jm that's really sweet. It's called the Monza storage divan

But I've been looking for ages and not found anything with the same dimensions and in a similar colour. I need to get a bed urgently too as sleeping on the floor is not good!

Not necessarily. They could have stopped trading as the Limited company and continued to trade as another limited company or sole traders and not updated their website. Or they could be misinforming companies house, or perhaps they have updated their information but companies house haven't updated their site yet (it can take weeks for changes to company status to appear)

You can goto companies house to be notified of any updates to a company. http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk//wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo

Bedworld have a wide range including paler colours:

Bed dimensions are normally standard for the double/king etc, although not all ranges offer some of the inbetween sizes like small double etc. What size are you after?
  • thanks once again. I'm after a double in a browny pink colour. Perhaps I could get a white base from bedworld and source a headboard elsehwere...
  • update: just found the same bed on Wayfair. Also available on other sites. It's just called by a different name. Think Wayfair much more reputable!
