  • I looked into this at Xmas and settled on a Tom Tom Go unit which i am very happy with. Very reliable and simple to use. It's touch screen really helps.

Best bit of advice given to me was know what you want to use it for because if you want to use it whilst walking or cycling (and although it seemed strange to me, a number of my friends do) it is bulky and the Garmin is their choice.

Use the above sites and also the customer reviews on amazon.

I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.
I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.
Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far!
  • Thanks guys

seems the Tom Tom models are popular and meet the mark

do you know which model is best ? or are they much the same , seems some are more expensive than others , dont need the europe bit

think I will wait until after 6 may when it seems an updated version is coming out

  • I have the basic model- only one available when I bought it. With some playing around one can really customise it to your own personal preferences

See this for info on other models-

The only thing that I can honestly say I would pay extra for would be full postcode recognition if this is available. The latest upgrade to the "go" allows you to imput the first part and then use the road name and then the house number (which i guess you would anyway!)

I have Tomtom 3 running on my O2 XDA IIs (Smartphone) with a Bluetooth GPS mouse that you can wear.

It's excellent in and out of the Car, will be using it on Hols this year!

Costs about the same as Tomtom GO, if your looking for a phone as well!

Oh and I bet your Tomtom GO doesn't play mp3's, movies, games.

But the movies and games are maybe not a good idea whilst navigating the M25 etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

check the TomTom site as full post code will be available when they release new maps.
Note buying the Europe CD in USA is cheaper than in UK - as often!

    Hi there,
I am desperately looking for a cheapish sat nav and as I was browsing Amazon for Tom Tom 300, it noticed that there were few private sellers as well selling the same Tom Tom at half the price.
I e mailed them asking whether it was used or refurbished but they say that it brand new and factory packed.
I am confused how is it possible????

What is the catch here? Does anyone know about it?
    Many thanks
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T

Ive just bought an Acer n35 PDA from https://www.ebuyer.co.uk. It has a built in gps and Destinator 3 software preloaded........for the price of £199 (+vat) its blinkin' brilliant!

The sat nav is very accurate (used for a couple of weeks so far) AND you've got a reasonable PDA aswell!.........
if i had known then what i know now

Couldn't tell you if it's any good though, had mine for 230 from Lidl last Christmas and it hasn't got me lost yet.
