iPod and Podcasts

Hello, I wonder if anyone could help with this problem.

If any of you download Podcasts please can you tell me what setting I need to cure this problem.

According to the on-screen instruction, if I subscribe to a Podcast, new episodes will download when available. So far so good. Now when I've listerned to an episode. I delete it from my iPod. How do I stop that episode and others from being downloaded again? bashhead.gifcomp.gif The first time I assumed it was me. But last night I had my iPod connected to my laptop to recharge the battery and found 41 episodes of The Archers. comp.gif where yesterday afternoon at 3.00pm there was none.

This isn't the only time. I know I have deleted other programmes on a number of occassions just to have them appear over and over again.

Help please.

  • Check your settings in iTunes. There is an option to delete after listening. I suspect it's not downloading, it's re synchronising from your laptop because you've not set those to delete

Click on the podcasts in question which brings up a list of programmes. Click Edit. Click on empty circles to give a tick. Then press delete which appears top left.

Do not select delete after listening unless you want them removed from your hard drive as well. (You may well want this but it is better to first try ) selecting the "only sync first 10 unlistened podcasts" option when the iPod is connected to iTunes.

Sorry, I know its me not selecting the correct option, but I've never seen this option, dispite clicking everywhere :o As it happens I do want them deleted from my hard driver and iPod once I've listened to the programmes.

I've followed JournalGirl's suggestion on each set of programmes. I shall see if this works. I've deleted everything from before the beginning of September.

When you have connected the iPod and selected it in Devices, then choose "Podcasts" instead of Summary. In the top box of Sync Podcasts you should have an "Automatically include" checkbox with two drop-down menus where include "10 most recently unplayed" episodes of "all podcasts" is a reasonable selection.

Edit: then again, if listening to Archers etc then 10 least recent unplayed episodes is the more sensible selection!
