hello friends was hoping somebody could help me out, Ive read many posts on the net but cant get a straight answer
Ive just realized that I took out two loans out ,one loan in 1999 and one loan in 2000
Both loans was with the Halifax, ive got all the paper work and loan agreement, both loans had insurance ,when I took the loans out I was told the loans would stand a better chance of getting accepted if I took the loan insurance out.
My main question is there a time limit to reclaim for miss sold ppi insurance???as there is so many different answers on the web???
hope somebody can help me out
thanks in adavance
regards

there's no time limit for complaining, but some firms were regulated, some weren't, some firms destroy records religoously, some don't. It's more because there would be less chance of there being any records left after so much time
rather than there being a time limit.
If you have proof of yours, photocopy and send everything you have with your complaint. It'll save time fannying about later on.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
i had my loan taken from 1997 with halifax upheld last month. I had no paper work, so you dont have to worry they will pay up:D0

Is it possible that the second loan repaid the first? if this was the case you would have received a rebate of the PPI for the first loan and repaid the remaining PPI in with the funds from loan two.
If your PPI was in with the loan monthly payment this is Single Premium PPI and you use this as a reason along with the unfair rebate account I gave above, use any other reasons also that apply to you having been mis sold this PPI.

There isn't an absolute time limit to complain, though under limited circumstances if you've "sat" on the complaint for a long period of time they may be able to rule it "time barred".
Of more concerns is getting your story straight. You've only just realised you had the two loans but you remember you were told the PPI would help you get them?0 -
Thanks for replies people0

I've recently been sorting my attic out and come across the paper work. Finding the paper work reminded me about the loans! PPI is all new to me

seeing as ive read so much helpful info on here, thought I should share my story and give others some hope!
not being particularly organised with paperwork, and not even remembering when I took out loans with Halifax, I had never bothered looking into PPI claims.
luckily my brother convinced me to try.
all I knew was that I had a loan many years ago from Halifax, and remember being told that I would only be accepted for the loan if I agreed to the PPI.
so, sept 2013 I printed the form from the Halifax website, filled in the info I knew (basically that id had a loan, and didn't know anything else)
sent it off, and waited!!
two weeks later I receive a telephone call from Halifax, stating that they had discovered 4 loans that I had PPI on between 1996 - 2000, and asking
some simple questions around sick pay benefits, death in service benefits etc that I would have been entitled to from my employer at the time.
my honest answer was that I couldn't remember!
they asked if I could obtain this info, and I stated that by law these company's only had to keep my employee records for a few years and that I was doubtfull of getting any info.
at the end of the call, they asked if I had any comments to add,
my only comment was that I have never taken out PPI if given a choice and that they should see that ive declind PPI when offered it on my Halifax credit card.
3 weeks later, they have upheld my complaint and my total amount due is £4244!
and I cant even remember how much I borrowed from them in the first place!!
have to say, in my case, the Halifax have been courteous, helpful and prompt.
hope this encourages a few people to put in a claim no matter how little info you haveLBM March 2015. Started DMP 1/6/15.
