Hi
So we've just moved into a new build and had the plumber install a softener.
He insists its working - but I'm not convinced. We've been in 10 weeks now and the salt level hasn't moved.
Although its non electric it doesn't make and noise at all either.
Any ideas?

Regeneration will take place when required in a softener and isn't usually very loud.
What type of salt do you use - block/tablets?If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!

How hard is your mains water?
Is the water being softened?
Buy a water softness kit for a few pounds and test the unsoftened and softened water and see what results you get.
You should have a kitchen cold water tap or drinking water tap that provides unsoftened water.0
