Buyer Has Not Paid

I am sure this has been asked many times before but I could not find the answer in the search box.

Despite three messages a buyer who won one of my auctions on ebay has not responded or paid. I have opened a case and I suppose will get a refund of the final fee in a few days.

Does this count against the buyer in any way because he has wasted my time and I have now got to relist the item.

  • Yes, if you open up a non-payment case the buyer will get a strike if they do not pay.

Yes, as long as you have opened a full NPB and close it 4 days later (as soon as it is possible to do so ) without receiving payment then buyer gets a strike and cannot leave you feedback.

You can then set your preferences to stop people with 2 or more strikes from bidding.

Thanks but what is a strike?

Basically, if a buyer bids on an item, doesn't pay for said, the seller follows the procedure of opening a npb case, buyer still doesn't pay so case gets closed, the buyer will end up with a strike on their account. 2 or more of these recorded on the buyers account will mean that if any seller that has set their preferences for buyers with 2 more strikes against their account within 12 month said buyer with NPB strikes against their accounts will not be able to purchase any items from said seller (hope that makes sense, I know what I meant, but sometimes I don't explain it very well)

A strike is a black mark against their name which means they may be limited to what else they can bid on/buy. If a buyer has 2 strikes they can be blocked by sellers.

    Thanks I understand it now.

I originally thought it would affect their feedback score but I suppose giving a them 'strike' does ensure they don't try it to often.

You can't affect their feedback as sellers can only leave positive feedback for a buyer.

Don't leave any feedback. Don't be tempted to leave a false positive (a positive with negative comments) as the buyer can either get that removed or just leave it as it increases their positive score and few people read the comments, especially as they drop down the page.

Just follow the advice above for the NPB so that they get a strike and add the user to your blocked bidder list.

Good advice thanks. I was wondering if I could find out if the buyer had any other 'strikes' against his name but blocking him as a bidder will do what I want.
