Hi everyone I'm after some advice
I bought a dryer from comet in July of 2012 in march 2013 the belt snapped and part of the motor came away so the drum did not go round they came and replaced the parts but I appear to have the same fault again.
This time I'm out of my 12 month warranty so I have to pay for a repair.
Am I covered by the sale of goods act? The dryer was brand new and cost over £250
Thanks

The Sale of Goods Act is only applicable between you and whoever sold the thing to you... Comet.Hi everyone I'm after some advice

As Comet have disappeared, you have no claim under SoGA.
However, if you bought the appliance using a credit card (or some other form of credit), you may be able to claim from the card issuer.
Have a read of MSE's Section 75 Refunds article.0 -
Ok so I have no rights at all to a repair?
I paid using my Halifax visa debit card can I claim through them? LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -
You have no right to a free repair.Ok so I have no rights at all to a repair?
Even if the seller was still around, you would probably have to jump through a few hoops to get a free repair.
Sorry, afraid not.I paid using my Halifax visa debit card can I claim through them?
Why not talk to the manufacturer to see if they can help, out of goodwill?0 -
Also worth noting you can get replacement drive belts online for £5-£10 (depending on make) , and they take 5 mins to fit.0
