OP, as per post #11, stick a written complaint in, once that arrives it'll get looked at by someone higher up the food chain who can apply a bit of common sense to the problem and you should end up getting your policy reinstated

I agree with Vaio, I work in the Insurance industry and I have never heard of an insurer demanding an engineers report for a respray of a vehicle classic or otherwise. The only thing I can think of is that it may affect the agreed value but even so they still should have at least allowed the respray to be completed and allow you to send in an engineers report if they really wanted it.

Send a written complaint in as Vaio said, might be an idea if you address it for the chief executive, that normally gets the insurer's attention, please note that the last time I checked the insurer is allowed eight weeks to review your complaint.

Have you spoken to your brokers about this, as currently the vehicle is uninsured and despite the circumstances it needs to be or sorned?
