PPI company delay evidence

I have had a Credit card from Barclaycard for over 10 years. I couldn't see mention of PPI on current bills after contacting them about whether it was sold they wrote:
"Upon checking our records, I can confirm that there was Payment Protection Insurance active on your account from 12/05/2003 till 06/06/2003."
I have no memory of ever asking for PPI (as work covered illness) nevermind cancelling it after 3 weeks = I have asked for evidence of this and 8 weeks later still waiting (they say they will contact soon but no sign) - how can they answer originally inside a day and now, 2 months pass without evidence / confirmation?
HELP!!! How do I proceed if they stick to their "story"
Cheers

Barclaycard keep a running 6 years of statements. So, this is going back before then. So, they may have little information showing it other than a record of dates.How do I proceed if they stick to their "story"
Did you borrow on your card during that period?
Did you even pay a PPI premium?
If you did borrow on the card (ie not repaid each month), how much did you borrow? if you use £6 per £100 borrowed that would be the sort of figure you are wasting time on?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). What makes you think you are entitled to "proof" that you held PPI?
The Bank have told you that their records show you had PPI for three weeks in 2003. Obviously, this can only mean you cancelled the PPI within the thirty day "cooling off" period and so can have no mis-selling complaint,
You can, if you wish, waste £10 obtaining proof of the Bank's records by sending them a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter. This will net you anything the Bank has kept on file for you for at least the last six years and (often) more. There is a template here;

I would only send such a letter if you believe you may have had other finance with PPI attached. Credit card PPI is shown on every monthly statement where your account has a balance and you have already said that you see no evidence of PPI on your bills.0 -
PPI cancelled in the cooling off period is as good as not having PPI, you also wouldnt have paid a premium. You are not due anything.
I wouldnt stress about this.0
