You're only entitled to payments while in suspension in extreme circumstances. SF have reassessed you having had the confirmation from your university of your suspension (these often take the university months!).
I'm in agreement with SFE that you owe the money in this case. However, they have discretion to spead it over a few academic years. This is discretion though; they don't have to do it.
Put your reasons why they should in writing, and appeal any decision if needed.0 -
I have experience a similar over-payment with SF, in excess of £4000 - however the reason for approx. 50% my over-payment was that SF made, and confirmed, an error of allocating £2000 more to one of our bill (we stated £300 and they recorded - £2300).
I had argued that it was unfair for me to be paying the extra based on their error, but one of the things that noted was that I had agreed to repay any over-payments no matter what the reason for the over-payment as part of the process of applying, i.e. if they make an error that affects the amount they pay, the payee will still have to repay the over-payment.
Is there anything I can do to reduce the repayment total?0
