Well done Barclays (how's that for rare?)

I know lots of folks hate Barclays on MSE (with good, evidenced reasons!) but I've always been one to say "thanks" and "well done" when it is due.
At the end of last year, they started writing to me saying "you may be owed a PPI refund" or similar. Mostly due to work I ignored them for 11 months - any PPI complaint I had was essentially impossible to evidence anyway beyond technicalities so I just didn't consider the potential return anywhere near the amount of effort required to realise it.
But they kept hassling me. One morning 2 months ago I had 3 letters through the door at the same time from them! So I rang them, if nothing else to get them to stop writing 'reminding' me to get in touch with them. We chatted, she looked at the reference number, and was a generally lovely lady to talk to. She then said words to the effect of "I see there are lots of other historic products this complaint could apply to. Do you want me to update your complaint with the all of them?"
(in my mind) "will that stop you writing?"
"Sure! Lovely, thank you."
And it was done.
The letters stopped and normality was restored! I had one other through that wanted to know about 10 pages of 'additional information' but I ignored as well, as it said it was optional.
Until this morning, when a particularly thick envelope dropped through the door.
"Here we go again ..."
My jaw dropped upon opening, and I slipped off my chair.
All complaints upheld, and a refund and interest payment of a few pence shy of £4,000 has been refunded into my current account!!
So they obviously found something they didn't like in all policies, because I certainly didn't give them any particular evidence from my side of things. I just wanted them to stop giving the postie backache lugging my mail with their reminders
So ... well done Barclays. For being persistent. For making it simple. And for the refund, as that'll go quite nicely towards my "Buying My First House Fund" because as exchange looms, I keep finding things to buy :rotfl:

Great news, enjoy spending it on your first house0

Well done... enjoy the cash! It's so nice/rare (from a case handler's point of view) to speak to someone who is genuine and hasn't worked themselves into a false moral frenzy about PPI.0
