Hi folks, First time techie post so be gentle.
Background. I'm by no means a big gamer but obviously want to make an informed choice as it's quite a bit of money to spend.. I pretty computer literate, work with them all day, 5 days a week but I have absolutely NO experience of any of the games consoles out there at present apart from the Wii and even then it's minimal.
Basically I have a 6 year old (Nearly 7) and a 5 Year old who want Disney Infinity for their Wii but having read some reviews, it seems it is pants on the Wii Console due to limitations based on the consoles power. Obviously the PS4 is on the way but at £350 it's a bit steep. I can get a nearly new (6 months old) 500Gb PS3 for about £140 (Much more affordable) but know nothing about it. Obviously you read the reviews/predictions about the PS4 and you get all the gumpf on how much faster and better picture quality and better this and that etc. etc. etc it'll be but really is it worth it for two young kids? I can't see the PS3 becoming defunct overnight so the question I suppose is, would you go for the PS3 at this stage? Is it a good console? I know it can play Blu-Rays and can be connected to the Internet etc..... has anyone got one and uses it for connecting to the net and using BBC I-Player or Netflicks or the likes and what is your views on it?
any info to help my decision would be great...

My son has just bought a PS3 from GAME in store for £199. He got Grand theft Auto V + the Last of Us and a dvd box set with it too. He has sold the games which bought the price down. However, had he waited, I am sure that once the PS4 is launched, that the PS3 will be much much cheaper.
Don't forget cashback and to pay with a Nationwide credit card for an extra years warantee0 -
A PS3 will be plenty good enough for your needs. I use ours mainly for streaming videos from a NAS in another room. But I have used it for iPlayer and ITV catchup etc., and it works a treat. Haven't used it for Netflix but, as long as your Broadband connection is fast enough, you should be fine.0

I don't think Disney Infinity has been announced for the ps4 xb1 yet anyway.
The iPlayer and Netflix apps on PS3 are pretty good, itv player and 4od are terrible however.
I wouldn't bother with the internet browser either.0
